DEAR FELLOW HARVARD ALUMNI...
As we complete our 2022/2023 Harvard Club of Vero Beach season, I wanted to thank all of our members who participated in the various events we held this season. Our Alumni Club continues to be the most active club in the Treasure Coast area and we deeply appreciate your enthusiasm, attendance, and support.
We kicked off our Welcome Back Party, the first event of the 2022/2023 season at the beautiful Indian River Environmental Learning Center (ELC). Guests enjoyed drinks, hors d'oeuvres, stunning views and valuable information and education about the ELC.
Held at Quail's The Pointe, our annual Harvard/Yale Football Game was great fun. Harvard and Yale alumni brought their friends and family to watch the game, indulge in traditional tailgate food, and engage in a little friendly competition.
In January, we joined Yale and Princeton alumni at Bent Pine Golf Club for another popular annual event, the HYP Golf Tournament. After a beautiful day amidst the beautiful January Florida weather, Harvard again won the trophy. Thank you to Bill Rose for his help in organising and facilitating the event.
At our largest event of the season, about 100 members from all eight Ivy alumni clubs in the area came together at our All Ivy Party for an evening on the water. Guests enjoyed drinks, great conversation, and some spectacular hors d'oeuvres courtesy of the Vero Beach Yacht Club.
We wrapped up the season with two insightful talks from our own John Fitzpatrick '74 and Dale Jenkins '60. Fitzpatrick, noted ornithologist from Cornell, spoke of the thought-provoking relationship between his birding research and global warming. Dale Jenkins, distinguished author and WWII researcher, discussed his recently-released book Diplomats and Admirals, which offers a captivating inside look into the Pacific naval battles that shaped the world.
