March 2022

Dear Fellow Harvard Alumni:

As we complete our 2021/2022 Harvard Club of Vero Beach season, I wanted to thank all of our members who participated in the various events we held this season.  Even with COVID knocking on our doors, we managed to hold a number of very successful events.

We started off with the annual Harvard/Yale football game which was held at Quail’s The Pointe with a great tailgate luncheon and a half time ice cream bar.  65 participants enjoyed The Game with Harvard squeaking out a win over Yale in the final minutes.

To keep the victory dance going, Harvard won the annual HYP golf tournament again held at Bent Pine Golf Club.  14 Crimson alumni played lights out to bring home the trophy.  A special thanks to our Bill Rose for all the behind the scenes work and organizing.

The next event was a dinner at Riomar Country Club with a talk by Dr. Greg Rosencrance, the President of Cleveland Clinic-Vero Beach.  I think we all left better informed and more hopeful concerning our local health care system.

The 6th Annual All Ivy Party was held at the Riomar Beach Club with about 125 participants enjoying lots of cocktails, apps and each other’s company.  I think a good time was had by all.

Our final event was a breakfast event held at Quail River Club.  Peter Solomon-Harvard ‘60 and Harvard Business School ‘63-gave a most interesting talk about Harvard’s unique governance system.  Peter gave us an insider’s view into the history and workings of Harvard’s Board of Overseers.  Thanks again to Bill Rose for bringing Peter to us.  Bill and Peter were Harvard ‘60 classmates.

We will reach out with another email in the fall with our plans for the coming season.  If anyone has thoughts or suggestions for an upcoming Harvard event, please reach out and let us know.  The best events always come from our members.

Stay safe and have a great summer season.

Dale Hamilton
